Acrylic Markers

Posca markers have been some of my prized art tools for some time. They’re opaque, smooth, and vibrant. Their colors are somewhat limited, however, making them tricky to paint with in my style. Last year, I decided to see what I could do with just those colors and found they really pushed my creativity in great ways.

This year I wanted to branch out in acrylic markers, and started looking for other brands that would deepen my color options. I found a brand called Tooli-art on Amazon that exactly filled in the gaps, allowing me to play with this medium in a whole new way.

This piece was done with the Poscas and the Tooli-art markers. At 20 x 16 inches, it gave me good scope to explore the possibilities with them.

The two brands worked seamlessly together. There’s a real freedom in working in a medium that allows opaque coverage. One can make minor changes when needed, whereas in watercolor, once certain colors are laid down, they’re there. I love working in the acrylic markers.
